Celebrating the BIG GAY GULL during Brighton Pride

Brighton YMCA and EVOLVE clients were honoured to be part of Making it Out’s first major design project, planned for the Brighton Pride.

The BIG GAY GULL, which celebrated the diversity of Brighton and Hove, was created and exhibitied for the Brighton Pride. Clients were involved by taking pallets a part, cutting them to size and wood staining them in the rainbow colours of Pride.

‘I’ve been through a lot, I have just come out to the other side, and now I have someone who has my back.’ Our client Liam, being interviewed by BBC South East only a couple of weeks ago.

Making it Out involve their participants in the process of designing and making a variety of artistic and innovative products in order to equip them with the skills, motivation and confidence they need to build and maintain more positive and stable futures for themselves.

We were delighted to be involved in this beautiful project. In the clip, our client Liam is talking more about his own journey.
