YMCA Evolve is joined by successful choreographer

Meet Rose Ryan, a new Coach at our new service; EVOLVE: Education, Volunteering, Vocational training, Employment support.

Rose comes from a dance and education background. As well as working at Brighton YMCA, Rose is also a freelance movement direction practitioner with ARTSED, has an MA in Movement from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and is very passionate about integrating dance and movement into how we communicate as individuals.

Before working at EVOLVE, and aside from her dance and choreography career, Rose run a project for older people in Houslow, at Danehurst Centre. There she helped older people explore issues around loneliness through theatre, self-expression and movement. She is passionate about working in dementia awareness and about documenting real individual stories through the power of dance and movement.

Rose is a firm believer that self-expression through movement and dance should be available to anyone, irrespective of their ages, abilities, disabilities and disciplines.

Rose will work with EVOLVE clients on their journey to build skills and confidence to move forwards positively with their lives.

‘I am aware that everyone is different, and whereas some people might benefit from a traditional, sit-down approach to communicating and understanding their skills, other people might benefit more from attending workshops or outdoors activities, and it would be these activities that would encourage them to eventually find realistic and sustainable job opportunities.’

We are very excited that Rose has joined EVOLVE! Her enthusiasm and high work ethic are truly inspiring.
