Mayor of Brighton & Hove Brian Fitch

Brighton YMCA Chairman and Lord Lieutenant for East Sussex Peter Field received the Mayor's thanks to Brighton YMCA during a visit of its residents and staff to the Mayor's Parlour. The Mayor, Brian Fitch was highly complimentary to Brighton YMCA and its work.

Peter Field thanked the Mayor saying that the organisation has a long history , but now has a 21st century focus on providing modern housing for people with a range of needs many of whom have faced homelessness.

"We have supported people in Brighton & Hove for the last 150 years and believe we will continue to do so for the next 150!"

Peter Field said that Brighton YMCA's historic property 'Steine House' is undergoing changes and restoration to provide up to date accommodation for residents and offices for staff.

Abigail Bryant project worker at George Williams Centre (another Brighton YMCA project) added "being able to visit the inner workings of the Town Hall has been a valuable opportunity to better relate to what happens behind the scenes of the big decisions in the city"

Brighton YMCA residents and staff had a tour of the council chambers and historic memorabilia during the visit.

Brighton YMCA New Website Launched Tuesday 29th October 2013

Today sees the launch of our second "self build" website! The website has been developed by Mark Wainwright of Brighton YMCA at no cost whatsoever to the organisation, thank you Mark!

Mark says .....

"As a registered charity we take very seriously our obligations to get absolute value for money in every area. So with this in mind a couple of months ago I downloaded a homepage from Free CSS Templates. You get a free homepage which you can change around and using notepad you can write your own code html and css to create new pages. Then after a few skipped lunch hours and some late nights, you've got your new website !

Site suggestions etc, to Mark Wainwright
